I've commented on several of the articles posted to Newsvine when I vote in one of the polls I see seeded at msnbc. That's how I found this Forum/Website. When I have left a comment I tried to make my comment as honest as possible from my heart and appropriate for the subject. But does it do any good?
With just about everyone having access to computers and the internet it's possible to spread news and opinions, gather and make available that data for others at the speed of light. With almost all of us having PC's and internet access it's possible to communicate in hours with tens, hundreds, thousands of people at the wink of an eye when it used to take days or weeks or months to communicate.
Imagine the possibilities for change if that power could be harnessed to get the people to unite with a single message, a unified voice, a unified message to our government and legislators. Imagine if a poll could be created with valid choices and comments and could be sent to our legislators to let them know how we feel and that we want change.
A single voice is impossible to hear in a crowd and is easy to discredit and ignore. When there's tens, hundreds, or thousands of voices, all voicing and sending the same message, it's impossible to ignore and discredit.
What's the point of doing Polls, and for people to leave comments, if nothing's going to be done with them because a unified message can't be agreed upon?
How can the people be heard, a unified message be created and voiced when people making serious comments about subjects or trying to start meaningful dialog are berated and spammed by people that do nothing more than pen insults and make derogatory comments. How can people that would actually like to help promote ideas and change and contribute to a meaningful dialog get their message heard?
I would like my voice to be heard. I would like my comments to be taken seriously and given the merit they deserve. I want to add my voice to the many others that have a message to send that I agree with.
Our elected officials are only going to listen to us when we have a unified message. When they are forced to hear our voices and respond to the messages we send them.
As long as the People of the United States can't come up with a unified message and tell our representatives how they are to run our country, what we want ,and how they are to represent us, they'll just keep telling us what they think we want to hear, and doing what they want!
So are you going to add you voice to the many others that want real change and to get real messages to the people that need to hear them, or are you going to use your voice in vain, so it gets lost in the crowd and ignored. Are you one of those that think your voice is meaningless and powerless and wastes it insulting others?
