TARP, Taxpayers Aren't' Relieved Politicians!

advertisement

Freddie and Fanny, use ARM's and lend, lend, lend,
We'll bundle your sub-prime mortgages in derivatives.
The rating institutions will grade them as AAA,
Sell them, make money, and big bonus's we'll give.

Credit was easy; no down payment was needed,
get what you can, there not going to check.
House prices were up and the spending was good,
Big Executive Bonus's, don't worry, the mathematics says it's all good.

Then the housing bubble it did burst
And mortgage defaults become the worst.
The Stock Market crashed, what could be worse,
The economy's collapsing, open up the Government purse.

The reason for an economic bailout was reasoned as this
We must to do something, the economy is in distress.
If we don't act now, the banks and the country will fail
We'll now spend your money, banks in trouble, out we must Bail.

Congress wrote a bill, tax payers Money we'll spend
Free up credit, buy toxic assets, the economic slide it will end.
You'll have transparency, we'll promise you that
We'll take the necessary steps, your money we'll defend.

But the money wasn't used as it was meant
Instead our money, for Executive bonus's it went.
Compensation limits, bonus limits, written into the bill,
Compensation legislation was just a placebo pill.

Freeing up credit was the argument they framed,
We'll use your money to buy the toxic assets they claimed.
Instead our money was used by the fed
To buy preferred stocks and warrants instead.

The people were upset and the blaming began,
Republicans and Bush for the problems they blamed.
For the last two decades Democrats ideology has been,
A house for every one, even if their budget, people can't live within.

Big banks "are to big to fail" is what they said
So they use our money to get even bigger instead.
Bank of America bought Merrill Lynch, CIT was allowed to fall into a ditch.

Mortgage defaults are still rising and quick
Unemployment is at Ten Point Two Percent.
Unemployment benefits are running out,
Where's the Relief that TARP was supposed to be about?

Small business can't borrow, the big banks won't lend,
Our people are suffering, will this end?
People need jobs and mortgage relief,
Set aside politics for awhile and deal with the national deficit.

We need Work, Food, and a Place to live
No other issue should come before this.
Cap and Trade, Health Care Reform, there will be a day,
Relief for our People now is what I Pray.

What's this?
Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Oh yay. Another stupid poem written by an uniformed conservative.

I guess I should just be thankful it's not another adolescent, unoriginal parody of "Twas the night before Christmas".

BTW ..

In 2007 the total number of credit default swaps traded far exceeded the value of all loans. In fact, it may have touched $70 trillion dollars, which puts it above the gross domestic product of the entire planet.

AIG is the creator of these "insurance" policies. F/F didn't even get into this market until 2007 when they too became victims of the triple A rated derivatives. F/F being responsible for the credit crisis is just a Conservative fantasy.

who pushed sub prime loans.?

June 2002, President Bush announced an aggressive homeownership agenda to remove the barriers that block American families from achieving homeownership with the goal of creating 5.5 million new minority homeowners by the end of this decade. The Zero Down Payment Program would move the nation significantly closer toward this goal.

So I must be an uninformed conservative because you didn't like my poem. Any other leaps and conclusions you'd like to make while your at it?
